Hello out there to all of our Friends of Nevada Organics! We hope you had a meaningful May Day.
Whether you reside in the metro areas or out in the rurals, chances are there’s a plethora of folks working hard to help the planet and their communities by making native plants available for all of our backyard ecosystems. This is not an exhaustive list, just a small selection of what’s available out there this month. So, without further ado, and in order of your potential appearance….
Greenhouse Project Mother’s Day Plant Sale - Saturday 5/9/26 in Carson City, NV: Every Spring on Mother’s Day! We recently toured their greenhouses and got to see their vermiculture bin in action. Lots of native plants for sale, this nonprofit provides agriculture education along with providing fresh produce to numerous local food organizations for the food insecure. From 8am to 2pm. May Arboretum Spring Plant Sale - 5/9/26 in Reno, NV: Over 5000 plants in 300 different varieties all zoned for the Reno area. Members get early access Friday evening. Click the link for more info!
Lahontan and Stillwater Conservation District Tree Sale 5/9/26 in Fallon, NV: Teamed up with Churchill County High School Plant Systems class, all funds on their plants go back into their program at the school as well as supports the conservation efforts of the Lahontan Valley and the Stillwater areas. This says pre-orders were due back in April but they will also have plants available day of event. LOTS of native trees and shrubs for the Churchill County area.
Great Basin Food Co-op Seedling Sale 5/16/26 in Reno, NV: Join us in supporting the local Northern Nevada farmers sharing their seedlings with our greater community at this staple event in our area. Lots of varieties, and there’s still a couple of days left for pre-ordering, which closes 5/8! Plants are still for sale day of event, all must be picked up 5/16/26 from 8am-12pm at the Co-op.
Master Gardeners of Washoe County Plant Sale 5/15-5/16/26 in Reno, NV: Held at the Washoe County Cooperative Extension office, These plant sales go on to support the Master Gardener program!
Elko Garden Club Plant Sale 5/30/26 in Elko, NV: Cash only event, Elko county grown plants and vegetable starts available until they sell out. Starting at 7am!
Walker Basin Conservancy Native Plant Sale 5/30-5/31/26 in Smith, NV: Locally adapted native wildflowers, shrubs, and grasses, Two days to score some great plants.
